I have a client right now who is making me nuts. She called me last week all in a fluff. “This copy! You’ve made it worse! I’m seeing a word crossed out right next to a word you inserted! What are you doing?” Uh, honey. It’s called Track Changes, and you’re the one who asked me to use it! Today’s problem: “There are major problems with the copy!” and yet you mentioned one thing on the table of contents. Plus the missing copy? You actually have to supply that in order for me to include it, you know?
Please, please stop overreacting. Oh, and if you want me to make changes, send me an email with the details. Mentioning six things (and changing your mind midsentence) on a voice mail doesn’t help at all.

Eh, some clients don’t know what they want. One way I’ve learned to work around this issue is to send redlined and clean versions. That way they can take their pick, but I only go through the extra trouble if it’s requested of me.
